Ever wonder how and why our neighborhood decided to become an official historic district? As we began to share the stories of our neighborhood we realized that many of the “moments” of life which propelled Wichita Falls to where we are today are exhibited right here in these 211 homes and the streets that surround them- from the cobblestone being laid by folks in debtors prison to being one of the first neighborhoods with electricity. We’ve been told we even are home (literally!) to the first location for our local symphony. Supposedly one of the homes here was were the symphony originally began practicing here in town.
If you have a story to share, please do so over on the Blog page- but to see why those stories are so important to us- check out the Texas Historic Commission website. With the work we do in our neighborhood, and by finding all of these life moments, we are continuing the work of the THC and helping not only Wichita Falls, but all of Texas understand that we’ve got something valuable here- something to be celebrated and supported. So take a moment and discover what we are a part of!
